Hope you enjoy my final presentation. I had a whole rap I was going to do, but I could not get myself to record it. I will attach it within the next wee here for your own enjoyment so you can rap it yourself. lol
Nice job Krystal and thank you for introducing us to ClassDojo (we are loving it). I was also blown away with the People vs. school system and glad you included it in your slide show.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that Class Dojo is working for your Preschool. <3
DeleteGreat job, Krystal. I also really like how you ended with the People vs. School System. That video stood out to me in class as well. It's funny that we learn all these things in grad school (different intelligences and how kids learn differently) and yet, our classrooms are still the same. Same old memorization, study, test, forget. Thanks for reminding me about that powerful video! I agree that we need to change with society and that includes technology!
ReplyDeleteLove the sound effects! As usual your presentation was both entertaining and informative. Thank you for highlighting the People vs the School System. You must have watched it the day I came in late because I missed it... just finished watching and it brought me to tears. As an educator I am so frustrated with the way we are asked to teach sometimes... Great presentation.
ReplyDeleteGoogle Calendar...I am also attached to my paper calendars and organizers. I am hoping to get the courage up to switch over. It will just make everything easier. Parent communication is so important in what we do. Anything we can do to make that communication easier is great. We did talk about a lot of great apps to help us do that. You said your class is not completely tech savvy yet. I don't know if this is even possible with the way technology is constantly changing. It is a continuous work in progress. You are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteGood Job! I remembered that annoying dial up sound!!! I really want to try Class Dojo, everyone had talked about it. I'll have to give it a try! I love the end with the video, definitely a good reminder about the changing society!
ReplyDeleteIt looks to me that this class wasn't a waste of time. You learned so much and you changed things in your classroom in order to bring technology. For example, ClassDojo which is a great application for parents. I love your second slide on the dial up. I so remember that. I'm so happy that we got so much out of this classroom. Great presentation!
ReplyDeleteNice job using VoiceThread for your presentation. That app was one of my big takeaways from this course. Sometimes it’s the little things - how a simple switch from ical to Google calendar can make a big difference, and how learning a couple strategic keystroke shortcuts can greatly improve productivity. I’m glad you mentioned them because the Do Nows were so valuable. (And thanks for the throwback to AOL Online. I do miss the free CD’s they used to hand out. They made for some great crafts!)
ReplyDeleteKrystal- ahh that dreadful sound! I don't know what I would do now without a phone or computer at my disposal whenever needed. One of the many reasons I want Class Dojo is to have a way to create a portfolio at the end of the year. I have tried every year, but always throughout the year it just kind of stops.
ReplyDeleteI also really enjoyed the do nows that we did in class. I never realized you could screenshot a computer screen or go through multiple tabs open by just hitting CTRL [and whatever number tab you wanted to go to].
Oh my goodness that snipit tool we learnt is amazing!!!Can't believe it was on my computer the whole time! Sounds like you are taking some new knowledge like google calendar away with you! Great presentation!
ReplyDeleteKrystal, Great job on your classroom presentation. It is very clear and well organized. I agree, I want to work on using google calendar for my own organization. Wow the sound of AOL. I am at my friends house with her cat and I don't think the cat even liked the AOL sound. The AOL sound was time consuming to get online and life is a lot easier now without having dial up. I also enjoyed the do now's we had to do in class and glad I learned how to do screen shots on my lap top. I still feel class do joe would be great to use in my classroom to communicate with parents. I also want to see your rap to fresh prince of bel Air or want to see if I can make up a song about technology for my toddlers to sing.
ReplyDeleteKrystal, great final presentation! Even though I would have loved to hear your rap 😊
ReplyDeleteI use Google Calendar also! It is such a life saver and super easy to use. Glad you discovered it.
My class isn’t fully “tech savvy” yet either, but I think we are heading towards the right direction.
Nice job Krystal! I might have to check out google calendar - if it can keep someone as busy as you organized, then it should definitely work for me. I also like Class Dojo and really want to implement it into my classroom either after vacation or at the start of next school year. Our parents were so confused on the day we had a late start not due to the weather and if I had ClassDojo, I could have easily sent out a quick notice to clear up the confusion of our start time that day. It is so true that times are changing and we need to keep up with those changes. Great job!
ReplyDeletelol. I swear. It helps keep me organized (for the most part)! I did however have a cake smash photo session scheduled for today, but I think it was just to hold the day incase another day didn't work because I never wrote their name in the event. Lesson learned, but thank goodness no one showed up to my house : ) lol
DeleteAnd yes, that class dojo app would have really helped out your parents, especially my sister who would not stop asking me questions. lol. You should def get it. Like now. Go ahead download it and invite parents. :)
DeleteKrystal I will never forget the sound of the internet dialing up (it was so annoying). You are right that we have to teach our students how to use technology appropriately and integrate it into our classroom lessons and activities because it is becoming such a huge part of everyday life.
ReplyDeleteKrystal the screen shot short cut was a lifesaver for me as well! I like how you mentioned how student tutorial videos can be used to help ELL students. Seeing a video of their friends will help bridge the language barrier and make it more relateable for them! That video also made me really think about how we need to change classroom settings to meet the needs of our students today as well. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Krystal, I loved how you emphasized the short cuts. I find them very helpful as well. Great job on highlighting the classroom tools that we were introduced to to learn about the importance of technology education and progress in education. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteYour second slide brought me right back to the dreadful days of dial up and the threats id have to make so that noone picked up the other line! Instant panic! Google Calendar is a lifesaver! Where work, personal and kids schedules collide AND function! I learned some great shortcuts too during this course. I am glad I wasn't the only one who couldn't figure out how to take a mac screen shot!
ReplyDeleteI love that you incorporated the AOL dial up sound and used it to show how much has changed since even we were kids. I agree that it shows the importance of teaching kids what is current to their generation and how they can use it to enhance their learning. Although I was really looking forward to your rap, your presentation was very informative and provided me with useful information.
